Lingmoo (Kolthang), July 20, 2025 —
A constituency‑level coordination meeting of the Akhil Sikkim Khas Chettri Bahun Kalyan Sangh was held at the Auditorium Hall in Lingmoo Senior Secondary School, and it was a full-house and full of spirit.
Shri Narayan Khatiwada, President of the Sikkim Khas, led the meeting. Others present included Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Bikash Basnet, CEC Vice‑President Shri R.K. Basnet, Additional Political Secretary (South District) Shri Bishnu Sharma, Printing & Stationery Secretary Dr. A.B. Karki, Sikkim Khas General Secretary Shri Diwakar Basnet, Prof. T.B. Chettri, Secretary Madhhu Sharma, Joint Secretary Arjun Khatiwada, and committee members Hari Dungel, Renuka Basnet, Nitin Karki. Retired SE Shri S.S. Timsina, SDM of Yangang Shri K.L. Dahal, President Somnath Khanal of the Yangang Khas executive, Zilla Panchayat member K.D. Kafley, along with panchayat leaders, government officials, and a large public turnout, also attended.
The event kicked off with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. Following that, Mrs. Sujata Sharma performed the Khas anthem, and Mr. Gopal Sharma delivered the warm welcome address. Cultural performances followed, setting a festive tone for the rest of the day.
Somnath Khanal walked everyone through the agenda and detailed the Sangh’s recent activities and initiatives in the Rangang–Yangang constituency. Then Prof. T.B. Chettri gave a short but meaningful talk about the identity, culture, and values of the Khas community.
Diwakar Basnet, the State General Secretary, shared updates on Sangh activities aimed at community upliftment, education, and youth engagement.
Words From Advisor Sikkim Khas Dr. A.B. Karki
Dr. A.B. Karki, coming from Yangang and now serving as the Printing & Stationery Secretary, emphasized the importance of meetings like this for strengthening the Khas identity. He also suggested opening a bank account in the name of the Rangang-Yangang Khas for smoother financial management in future initiatives.
He congratulated everyone from the Khas community who recently received top government posts, asking them to use those posts to help the community. In a memorable moment, he asked people to stop calling each other “Sir” or “Madam” (labels he said were left over from the British). Instead, he urged everyone to address one another with warm terms like “brother, sister, mama, maiju”, reflecting a closer family bond.

President Khatiwada spoke passionately on the need to stay united. He thanked the current government led by CM P.S. Golay for having approved the much-awaited Khas Bhawan and for appointing a strong presence of Khas representatives in public offices. He also praised the Rangang–Yangang Khas team for their well-organized efforts.
The Sikkim Khas honoured several exceptional contributors: Narayan Khatiwada, R.K. Basnet, Bikash Basnet, Bishnu Sharma, and S.S. Timsina. Appointment letters were distributed to the newly selected Khas executive members of the Rangang-Yangang Constituency.
The event ended on a high note, emphasising unity and progress for the Khas community. The participants pledged to uphold the Sangh’s values and work together for continuing upliftment, cultural preservation, and community solidarity.
