When you’re pushing the limits on a show titled Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, every ounce of motivation counts. For Kelly Rizzo, founder of Eat Travel Rock, that motivation often came from an unexpected source – her late husband, Bob Saget.

During Monday’s episode, Rizzo, 44, made the decision to bow out from the intense competition. And while some might see it as giving up, for her, it was all about listening to her body’s cries for rest. “I made a pact with my family from the get-go,” Rizzo shares with fans. “My dad’s words echoed constantly, ‘Never quit unless you genuinely can’t push anymore.’ And that’s precisely where I found myself. Physically drained, emotionally spent, and still being pushed for more.”

The challenges on the show were no joke. Rizzo paints a vivid picture, “Imagine every ounce of energy drained from you, every muscle aching, and then you’re told to go one more round. It was insanity! I was already hurting before the last challenge, and they still wanted more.”

Rizzo’s determination and grit shone even in the face of adversity. “I didn’t just join to win; I wanted to explore my limits, test my mental strength, and boy, did I do that! Before this, missing out on my favorite pillow would’ve been a deal-breaker, but here I was, battling through much worse.”

But what kept her going when things got tough? Memories of Bob Saget, the legendary comedian, and her late husband. “One mentor constantly echoed that Bob was sending his cheers from the stars above. And I won’t lie; it gave me that extra push, a tad more energy to give it another shot.”

Yet, Rizzo adds a humorous spin, imagining what Saget might’ve advised if he were genuinely in her ear, “Bob would’ve been like, ‘Honey, why are you even there? Head home, put on those fuzzy socks, grab a snack, and binge-watch something!’ Knowing him, he’d have wanted me in the coziest spot.”

As her journey on Special Forces wraps up, Rizzo is all set to start a new chapter, blending her love for food, conversation, and heartwarming stories in her upcoming podcast, Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo. “It’s all about delving into those tough life topics while munching on our favorite comfort foods,” Rizzo spills the beans. “It’s about making those hard conversations a little more palatable. Can’t wait for y’all to tune in!”
