In a landmark event, PM Shri Govt Sr Sec School, Yangang, organized the first Graduation Day Programme in honour of the AISSCE 2024 passing-out students of the school. The ceremony commenced with a vibrant procession of students, followed by guests adorned in beautiful gowns , caps and scarves.

The event was graced by Dr. A B Karki, Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, as the Chief Guest. Special guests included Mr. Rinchen Dorjee Bhutia, a retired Navy officer, and Mr. Mahesh Dawari, a renowned entrepreneur and founder of Peero Company. Both the special guests also served as resource speakers for the occasion.

Principal, Mr. P R Dhungel, delivered the commencement address, officially opening the 1st edition of the Graduation Day programme. He congratulated the Senior Secondary graduates and encouraged them to stay connected to their roots and alma mater. He highlighted the achievements of the distinguished guests, who are proud alumni of YSSS, and wished the graduates continued success.

Graduation Day: Inspiring Speeches

The first speaker, Mr. Rinchen Dorjee Bhutia, emphasized the importance of discipline and respect for parents and teachers. He shared insights on the foundational role of school in shaping one’s future, encouraging students to engage in outdoor sports, yoga, and meditation. He also motivated students to join local sports clubs, specifically mentioning the opportunities available in Yangang.

Mr. Mahesh Dawari, the next speaker, shared his inspiring journey from Namphok village to becoming the founder of Peero, a renowned brand of Hot chilli sauce. His another venture is Green grocers – the grocery outlet of organic products. He encouraged students to be honest, dream big, and have patience. His story of perseverance and dedication resonated deeply with the audience.

Dr. A B Karki, the Chief Guest, captivated the audience with a blend of humor and motivation. He began his speech with a quote from Shiv Khera: “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently.” He spoke about the essence of success and the importance of branding local knowledge globally. Dr. Karki stressed the significance of character over marks in the long run and presented the Saraswati Memorial Academic Excellence award to the top students of class X for the 2023 and 2024 batches, in memory of his late mother, with a generous cash prize and certificate.

Graduation Day : Event Highlights

The programme continued with the distribution of certificates and mementos to students from various streams: Science, Commerce, Humanities, Information Technology, and Tourism. Miss Aradhana Khati and Master Norden Sherpa, represe.nting the graduates, delivered heartfelt speeches, expressing gratitude to the school and their teachers.

Graduation Day: Feedback from Faculty

Mrs. Annapurna Tamang, a senior teacher, appreciated the theme of the programme, stating that it significantly encourages students to excel academically. She added, “Such a programme motivated even the junior students to excel in their academics. To attend such a beautiful programme, students must pass with good marks. We saw the toppers seated along with the distinguished guests in the front row.”

Mr. A C Sharma, PGT Sociology, expressed his happiness, noting, “I am impressed and happy that such a programme motivated children to set clear goals and achieve them. Fruitful results will come from this programme, and even graduates feel honored in their success.”

The Graduation Day Programme at PM Shri Govt Sr Sec School, Yangang, has set a new benchmark for educational celebrations and activities organised in the school, marking a memorable and inspiring day for all attendees.
