🚨 Gangtok, July 31, 2024: Mr. Om Prakash Mathur has been officially sworn in as the 18th Governor of Sikkim. The grand ceremony took place at Raj Bhawan, Gangtok, where Mr. Mathur, hailing from Rajasthan, was administered the oath of office. This significant event marks the beginning of his tenure as the state’s new Governor.
Mr. Mathur’s arrival in Sikkim was a well-coordinated affair. He landed at Bagdogra Airport and was warmly received by Mr. Pempo T Pulger, State Protocol Officer, and other officials from the Protocol Unit, STDC, and TIC Siliguri. He was accompanied by a distinguished delegation including Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Minister of Rajasthan; Mr. Dharam Narayan Joshi, MLA; Mr. Mahesh Gagda, Former Home Minister of Chhattisgarh; and Mr. Akhilesh Mishra, PA to the Governor.
Upon arrival at Burtuk Helipad in Gangtok, Mr. Mathur was greeted by Chief Secretary Mr. V B Pathak, DGP Mr. A K Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Mr. R Telang, and other senior officials. He was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Sikkim Armed Police, a gesture that underscored the importance of the occasion.
At Raj Bhawan, Mr. Mathur was presented with the Warrant of Appointment by Chief Secretary Mr. V B Pathak. The ceremony was attended by key state dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Sikkim, PS Tamang. The event concluded with a Guard of Honour by the 13th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
Governor Om Prakash Mathur expressed his gratitude and commitment to serving the people of Sikkim. His tenure is expected to focus on various developmental and welfare initiatives for the state.
