Why Subroto Cup Matters: Pathway to FIFA Glory

India may still be chasing its debut in the FIFA World Cup, but the seeds are sown in tournaments like the Subroto Cup. As a football fan, witnessing these grassroots battles is a reminder that dreams are not built in stadiums—they begin on school grounds, nurtured by passion and dedication.

The Minister highlighted that 36 schools across all four districts participated in the preliminary district-level tournaments. The respective champions converged at Paljor Stadium for the state-level finals. The inclusion of night matches under floodlights marks a new chapter in sports infrastructure in the state.

The Minister congratulated:

These awards, backed by increased sports budgeting and athlete welfare schemes under the leadership of the Chief Minister, aim to boost morale and push youth to aim higher.
